This is quite possibly the perfect non-alcoholic beverage for a Tuesday that feels like a Monday.
I was introduced to this drink by a Bucks County bartender who served ginger ale and bitters to a friend who was complaining of nausea. I have made a few refinements that turn this easy-to-prepare mocktail into an event in a glass.
I recommend using the best quality ginger beer you can find or if you prefer something with less bite look for a ginger ale made with real ginger. I chose Black Walnut Bitters for their earthy taste which sets-off the sharpness of the ginger beer.
Any thin slice of citrus will work, this one has a lemon, but a thin orange wheel is very attractive as well.
Tummy Tamer
1 7.5 oz can of Ginger Beer
5-6 Dashes of Black Walnut Bitters
Cubed ice
Slice of citrus
Fill a rocks glass ¾ full with cubed ice (the larger the better). Pour in Ginger beer and dash the bitters over the top. Top with a slice of citrus.
